Mommy Moments – Mother’s Day 2010

mommy moments
I am not a type of person who is particular with events and celebrations. Even my birthday is not a big fuzz with me. I don’t mind if my friends forget to greet me on my birthday. My husband and I don’t prepare big celebration for our wedding anniversary. During my husband’s birthday, we just treated our close friends for dinner. I don’t also expect gifts, but of course I accept them when given :D. Dull life? Probably. But there is one thing I never forget during an important date, and that is to thank God for allowing me to reach that day.

The church where I belong is not also religious when it comes to observing events and traditions like Christmas, Valentine’s Day and the like. Though we are aware that the world are celebrating those events, we do not follow them. “Be ye separate saith the Lord” the Bible says. We always look on the Word of God for the basis of celebration. So Mother’s Day is not an exemption. We had no big event for it. I don’t even expected that our pastor will remember that that particular Sunday was a Mother’s day because he was so busy. But he did. After the service, he requested all the mothers to come forward and he lead the church to pray for us. He acknowledge the important role of a mother. He even prepared a token for us. A mini book which contains inspiration verses from the Bible for the mothers. A prayer was already a blessing to me, a token was already overwhelming.

So how about you? How did you observe the Mother’s Day? Want to share it? Then hop to The Mommy Journey and let us know it ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. Oh we have the same opinion when it comes to certain occasions. Yeah, I don’t mind not getting gifts (but accepts them otherwise too, lol!) But I am also delighted when greeted.

  2. I wouldn’t say a dull life.. just different from the majority. You’re lucky you can stand fast and not jump into the commercialism that is usually attached to holidays.

As for me, I can’t. We find ways to ‘celebrate’. Though I did get a book too, but to complete a series which I was collecting. Happy MM!

  5. That was nice of your church to acknowledge the important role of mothers. I wasn’t able to attend church that day because I was busy preparing spaghetti for our Mother’s Day celebration in the afternoon. Belated Happy Mother’s Day, Mylene! My entry is up, too.
