What Kind of CommEx-er Are You?

  • Sumo

I have been a member of BC Blogger for a couple of months now. As a member I have a privilege to participate in the weekly Comment Exchange. As the name implies, it is simply exchanging of comments among the members. What makes it extra special from other comment exchange activities like Meme is the spreadsheet which contains the list of members with their blog links who successfully completed the previous week’s CommEx. This is the simple rule of CommEx. In order for a member to land a cell on the spreadsheet, she/he must first completed commenting on all the blogs included in the previous week’s spreadsheet. It is simply as “do unto others first what you want them to do unto you”. Yes, the commenting is monitored in someway but not that strict. The success of the activity relies heavily on honesty basis.

For the past weeks, I had some turns to be the “moderator” of the spreadsheet. This means that I had the privilege to prepare the spreadsheet for the participating members. And since I closely monitor the spreadsheet during my turn, I observed that there are different types of CommExers (I coined this word which means someone who join/participate in Comment Exchange for faster ). Let me share with you the three major types of CommExers.

1. The Fast & Furious – These are the CommExers who are commendable and worthy of a standing ovation for finishing their round of comments on the same day when the spreadsheet is up. Whhoot! Whhoo! They are usually the ones who are already on stand by and waiting for the spreadsheet to be up. They are indeed faaaassst!

2. The Buzzer Beater – These are the CommExers who do not immediately finish the commenting on the same day when the new sheet is up but they make sure that they completed all the commenting by Monday – the day before a new sheet is prepared. They may not be that fast like the fast and furious group but at least they make sure that they won’t be late for the next sheet.

3. The Late Bloomers – These are CommExers who finish their commenting on the same day when a new sheet is being prepared (And that’s Tuesday). Some even don’t make it – for some reasons – before the new spreadsheet is up but want their links to be included on the sheet.

The disadvantage of falling in this group is the risk of not getting all the traffic from the other participants especially if some of the Fast and Furious members finish their commenting early.

So in what kind of CommExer do you think you fall? Do you belong to the Fast and Furious? Or are you a Buzzer Beater? Or how about a Late Bloomer?

  1. For a change this week maaga ako natapos ๐Ÿ™‚ Try ko mag second round para 2 links ako next week. Wish me luck for the round 2 ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I am usually No. 2. This week is the first time I missed comment ex because I traveled for a week. Glad to be back. Will read your comments next week! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. I’m definitely a Buzzer Beater and hopefully will not be a Late Bloomer. ๐Ÿ˜€ I only get to finish my comm-ex duties on weekends.

Oh, and thank you to you and the other moderators for exerting extra effort and sparing some time to do the spreadsheets. You all do such a great job!

  4. This is a cute post! Perhaps I can even add to your list. I have observed that there are some members who (1) comment for the sake of it. They would type a short line such as: “this is interesting thanks!” (2) There are those who really read your post word for word and the comment is as long as a paragraph. (3) The last group would just breeze through your post and the comment is far from what you posted.

I would fall under the buzzer beater ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I agree with you Farida. This should be on another post hehehe… I hate to be mean pero minsan naninita ako specially kung out of topic ang comment ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. i am in the middle of 1 and 2.. haha I am always on the stand by to the new commex spreadsheet to put my name on it. But I usually comments during thursday or fridays, when my boss is not here at the office! =)) I usually finished it on the same day I started..

  6. I think I belong to the Buzzer Beater group. ๐Ÿ™‚ I wish to be in the first group but unfortunately, work commitments get in the way. But at least I can beat the buzzer. Hihi.

  7. The Buzzer Beater! Haha. I used to do it like “The Fast & Furious”, but I don’t get to use our laptop now as much as I did. But I do try to finish everything before the week ends. Because honestly, CommEx is quite addicting.

  8. I wish I could be the Fast and Furious type, but it’s sometimes hard to juggle my responsibilities as a wife, a lab tech and a blogger. So, I belong to the Buzzer Beater! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. I think I belong to the Buzzer beater. Because I want to truly read each individual post and post sensible comments to it, and not just comment for comments sake. You know what I mean? ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. fast & furious sometimes!!! hehehe but with work and pregnancy (which makes me feel very exhausted at the end of day)… i guess i will be a buzzer beater this week… ๐Ÿ™

this is nice mylene! ๐Ÿ™‚ hehehe and i guess you’ve noticed my inactivity for the past weeks… ๐Ÿ˜€

  11. Oh, and sometimes, it would help if we update our blogs at least once a week. It is so hard to comment on a post if I already commented on that post. Although I do try to check on previous posts, too…

    1. Heheheh it’s the ComEx that pushes me to write at least once a week. Para naman may something new sa blog…which reminds me, I need to write one today or early tomorrow.

    2. I agree Marie. So what I do if I don’t have the chance to update my main blog, I used my other blog’s link. Just to make sure that the commenter would have a new article to comment on ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. I probably am under number two, although there was this one week that I was under number three, when work in the office was fast and furious hehe. And I tried to be under number 1 last week. nakakapagod! hehe. I do try to read all the posts that is why I am taking time. Sometimes, other posts would grab my attention, too.

  13. I never finish the rounds the same day as the spreadsheet but I am usually done by day 3 or 4. So I think I fall under 1.5 too! And I so agree with Ms. Aileen that we should try to leave comments as signs that we took time time to read or understand the articles.

  14. I guess I’m the buzzer beater but I try to finish as early as I could. I want to be able to read the entry, ponder a little about it them leave a comment.

  15. I usually try to finish commenting within a day or two that the spreadsheet is up. If I don’t, then I catch up on Monday. Usually, if workload is heavy at the office. I do a few blogs each day. I try to avoid bunching commenting on the last day. It’s likely I won’t finish ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. hmmmm.hard to think. Sometimes I fall on the three categories. When I am not that busy, I used to finished it within the same day. Sometimes, I used to beat the deadline because of some reasons. But I think I never been a late bloomer. hehehe

  17. I’m guilty! I belong to #2 and #3. I really can’t go up to #1 because of my very busy schedule but whenever I join COMEX, I make it a point naman to finish all. But I enjoy being with BC Bloggers as this group is well organized and moderators are accommodating.
    Thumbs up for that!

  18. I’m definitely # 2 the Buzzer Beater then became a # 3 Late Bloomer lately after adding 2 more blogs in the list hehehe.. I’m following the rules so I’m making 3 rounds for my three blogs hehe..:)

  19. I want to be a Fast and Furious, but usually, I get sidetracked with all my other activities and try to be a Buzz Beater! I was almost a Late Bloomer last week!

  20. I’m a new member of BC Bloggers and have only participated on the CommEx once. lol I think I was a buzz beater that time. In the past 2 weeks, I tried to participate again but didn’t make it because it has been a very busy week at work. Hopefully I’d be able to finish it this time. ๐Ÿ˜€

  21. I’m likely a Buzzer beater, some weeks maybe even a Late Bloomer. ๐Ÿ™‚ That’s because I really try to leave insightful comments instead of just one liners. Although sometimes I am guilty of leaving very short comments too. Thank you for being a moderator for our growing community! ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. Nice post Mylene! I think I fall under the Buzzer Beater category. although i do check the commex spreadsheet once its up, i don’t finish it immediately.

Btw, when you drop by my blog, I have a Free Blogger Opp there. Do check it out.

  23. nice posts here ms. mylene, you really did took a keen look on our Commex, i commend you for that; i think i belong to the fast and furious haha, i like kasi my job carry out the soonest possible time para wala ng problema

  24. BOOO!!!! i belong to #2 and #3. LOL. speaking of type of commenter, i finished my tasks for last week just today. pwede pa ba ako mahabol? pleaaaaassee?? i didnt notice the new sheet.

  25. Hmmm… I can fall under #1 and #2. We need to set an example — mahirap masermonan eh hahahha!!! Thanks for sharing this one sis. It’s a great and fun read ๐Ÿ™‚

    CE 11/20

  26. Oh, and I don’t mean to sound griping or what, but I hope all commenters would really put more effort in leaving comments…at least comments that tell you they really read your article and didn’t just come up with standard comments based on the title. Mommy Paula reminded us of that during the first few rounds of the CE…I hope everyone would take that to heart. We’re not just after the views right? I believe the CE is all about building camaraderie also…

  27. Where do you think I fall under? Heheheh…I must say I had my fast and furious moments when I haven’t got much to do or I am going on a long vacation so I try to finish early. At other times, I finish commenting within a span of 3-4 days. The only reason I end up finishing some blogs near the deadline is if something is wrong with those blogs and I cannot access them on my first round.

So to sum it up, I am generally under no. 1.5 lol!
