Homeschooling Adjustment

  • Sumo

After few days of homeschooling, daughter and I were adjusting quite well. Little by little our schedule is getting stable.  Last Monday, we started at pass 8 in the morning and we finished before 5 pm. She had a 15-minute break in the morning. She stopped again at 12 pm for lunch and nap. We resumed at 2 pm. That schedule was quite late. So yesterday we started at exactly 8 am and we finished a little pass 3 p.m. I think that is better. She finished almost all her goals for all for the subjects within the allotted time. As a reward, I allowed her to watch video from 4 P.M to 6 P.M.

Yesterday we were able to start with the preliminaries before she started working on her PACES. She sang the National Anthem, recited the Panatang Makabayan, Pledge to the Christian Flag and Pledge to the Bible. We were also able to start with a devotion and prayer. We are using the VeggieTales 365 Bedtime Devos for Girls.

So far, we are coping up with our homeschooling. I am hoping that it will get better on the coming days.

  1. Great job! I tried homeschooling my toddlers also but found it impossible to stick to the schedule without any househelp, academic tutorials, ghostwriting, and blogging. I was able to teach my daughter to read but found it challenging to teach her brother. We ended up trying preschool for them this year. They’re only age 3 and 4 though so we may still shift to homeschooling again.

  2. wow, that must be a tiring but a rewarding day. Until now, I really do not know how home schooling works.

  3. It’s true, going to a regular school brings more benefits to a child but home schooling is also fine if there’s really a good reason for it.

  4. Oh you’re home schooling pala sis. Keep it up. Me on the other hand is praying that we can enroll Julia this school year. She’s 4yo na kasi.

  5. my sis had decided to homeschool her son too…. but i still think going to regular school would be something i would still choose, kinda brings a lot of happy memories when you’re grown up na… 🙂

  6. Good to hear improvement on your homeschooling.
With regards to the said program, what are the advantages and disadvantages of home schooling?

  7. Hmmm… home schooling… does it really work well with your kid? I like the idea and the bonding moment that both of you are getting just don’t know how long does the kid have to do homeschooling. anyway just my thought.

  8. Congratulations! It is a very tasking endeavor for the parent who mentors her child. One day at a time, that’s how you go about it. Someday, you’ll see the fruits of all of your efforts. And it’s a good bonding time also right?
