My Mistake Haunts Me

  • Sumo

If you are database administrator or programmer, you will understand my problem. But if not, I suggest that you stop reading this post and find another one which will be of your interest.

I’m stressed and pressured since Monday. My mistake in restoring a wrong database backup last August 16 still haunts me.  I didn’t realize that I restored a wrong backup file until the client submitted an issue ticket that some records were missing. When I verified the issue, I discovered that the backup file I restored was not the updated backup 🙁 huhuhu… Unfortunately, the client has started entering updates to the database through the application. So this left me no choice but to merge the latest backup and the current database. I thought all the data has been restored and recovered last August 22. But last I Monday I received another related ticket.

Since Monday Generic Levitra, I’ve been working till midnight trying to figure out how to re-merge the database. My brain is quite drained already. There been times that I wanted to cry, really.  But crying won’t help a bit. So I just continued working, trying and hoping that this problem will be finally solved.

I’ve been praying for miracle, requesting God to do the merging for me. I know that He sees the inconsistent and missing records which I don’t see. How I prayed that He utter the Words to fix the issue. I know He can do it. The only question is if it is His will. I never stopped talking to Him silently.

I don’t know when will this issue be closed but I hope it’s very soon. I am tired. May the good Lord intervene and have mercy on me and help me fix this issue.

    1. I believe so 🙂 So far I haven’t heard anything yet from the clients. But I’m praying that the problem has been solved.

  1. WE REALLY ARE NOT TECHIE TO THAT LEVEL OF THE DATABASE! I DO HOPE YOU FIND YOUR SOLUTION! WE ARE SO GRATEFUL TO OUR I.T. GUYS FOR HELPING US OUT RIGHT AWAY IF WE HAVE PROBLEMS IN OUR DEPARTMENT!!!!

  2. I know the feeling…sometimes, we just want to ask God to step in and solve our problems. Just continue to pray for wisdom, sis. No problem is too big for Him…if He’s not stepping in yet, maybe He is teaching you something very important. If you’re tired, pray for more strength…but don’t stop. Everything will come to light later on. You’ll see. Have faith.

  3. I studied IT way back in college but currently, I’m a stay at home mom. but somehow, i feel your dilemma though. i once made a similar mistake myself, i restored an outdated back up of my blog and what do you expect, i was surprised to see how my blog looked like after! waaah, i was in total confusion! huhu. i hope you’ve finally sort things up by now. 🙂

  4. i used to work in an it company (for 5 years) and i know pretty much how you feel. i hope the client allows you a bit more time to sort things out. 🙂
