The scarcity of local jobs pushes many Filipinos to work in a foreign land. They leave their families behind to earn some dollars for their loved ones. They sacrifice their own comfort in their own country to provide a better life for the families they left behind. But not all OFWs gained their desired results. Many families encountered domestic problems resulting from long-distance relationship. Unfortunately, only few were able to come out victoriously. And it is heartbreaking to witness families falling apart in exchange of “better life”. Very ironic, isn’t? Instead of a better life, many OFWs families ended as broken homes and their sacrifices come to naught. If only our government could do something to generate more decent jobs for the Filipinos, our OFWs would surely choose to stay.
