Proverbs 30:24-25

It has been a while since I last joined this meme. I got too busy with other stuff and neglected joining weekly memes. I don’t also have a camera right now because the one I’m using was broken couple of months ago. I just found this photo on my archive. And I am glad I found it because I have something to use for this meaningful meme.

The purpose of Word Filled Wednesday is to share God’s word through photos and a verse.

If you followed this site long enough, you are probably fed up of what I usually shared about God’s grace sufficiency. I always shared with you that we lack nothing but we don’t also have anything in excess. We are one of those who does not have any cent left on the bank except for the maintaining balance. Good thing is we don’t get hospitalized thus we don’t need extra money for hospital bills and medications. God is good for giving us good health.

But this is not always the case. Surely, God will always be good all the time. But time will come that we will really be in need of extra money. And time will come that I nor hubby can no longer work to earn a living. What will happen to us if we don’t have a saving to sustain even our basic needs? I believe that this is God’s reason why He consider the ants wise and He set the ants as an example for us. The ants knew that when the rain pours they can no longer work so they work while it is yet summer. I should be like the ants. I should prepare while it is yet summer because when the  rain comes down, I can no longer work.

I read in an article that God’s economy is not living within our means but living below our means. This means that it is a must that we really save for the rainy season. It is further suggested that we save at least 10% of our income. If we can make it 20%, better. But this doesn’t mean that we will keep back our tithes and offering to ourselves. Definitely, tithes and offering should be given the highest priorities in our budget because tithes and offering are not ours, they are God’s. Keeping something that is not ours is robbery.

One of my prayers this is year is to be able to save for the rainy season. I am no good when it comes to budgeting and I need God’s wisdom in managing our finances.

    lori

  2. It is nice to visit other bloggers and read post like this. Thanks for sharing. Happy WFW! Mine is up.

    1. Thanks for dropping by πŸ™‚ Yeah, it is really a blessing to visit other bloggers’ insights πŸ™‚

  3. I think if every child could be taught to save a small amount and double it each year it would be a very wonderful lesson.
I thought about my funeral recently and realized that since my income will stop when I die, then I really need to make sure there is provision …..one way or another.
Yes there are things we need to learn from the ants.
I love that verse that says…..go to the ant thou sluggard…I am sure that is in the King James translation…..but oh how often I have been that sluggard.

    1. You are definitely right! I think I will teach my daughter how save at an early age.

Me too… there are times that I can’t overcome my laziness. The verse is Proverbs 6:6 πŸ™‚

  4. These ants are really something. Imagine if we were given the same sense as they did. We won’t have a need for our lousy weather forecast there in Manila hehe! I can imagine people just staying at home instead of going to schools and say “I’m not going to school coz It’s gonna rain later” hehehe!

God has a great reason for not giving us such sense. He wanted us to BE ALWAYS PREPARED for the coming rain. It’s the same as preparing ourselves on his second coming, nobody knows when he’ll be coming back but surely He’ll come.

Good to hear you are giving tithes. Tithes is a great measure of our trust in the Lord. He did say “Test me in this”. If you trust the Lord that even in your financial stability you still give what is rightfully His then you will be blessed – if not 10 folds, just enough for you and your family.

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

God bless and thanks for sharing this meme of yours. By the way, what is this “meme”?

Another thing, thanks for dropping by my blog again. I think I’ve got it now. I have made the email subscription like yours here. Thanks again!

    1. Hi xleon,

Thanks for the visit! I agree. We know not when will our Lord Jesus come back but one thing is for sure, He will come back and we sure be prepared πŸ™‚

Meme is defined by Merriam Webster’s Dictionary as an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture. In the blogosphere, it is a regular (usually on a weekly basis) post with a specific purpose. Some has a weekly theme, some has none. For example, WFW is a post done every Wednesday. The main purpose is to spread the Word of God through photos and verses. You have to register your entry to the host so the others can visit your entry πŸ™‚ and you also have to visit as many as you can πŸ™‚ You may check this for more examples. I hope this answers your question. Blessings!

  5. The ants really are a great example to us. God has a reason for everything in nature – big or small.

    1. Hi Twinkle Mom,

I am thankful that you have the chance to visit my humble site πŸ™‚ And I am blessed that you were encouraged by the verse πŸ™‚ To God be the glory πŸ™‚

  6. A great verse, yes, ants gave us a good reason to be wise. Trying to join too today. Hope I could

    1. Were you able to join? Yeah, we really need to be wise nowadays not only on money matters but much more on the wiles of the devils.

  7. we did discuss this in church before and these ants were also given to us as an example. we should learn to be like them, the way they work and their attitude towards work.

    God bless you.
