Meditation On Worrying

The salary I received for my day job last payroll was more than 50% lower than my usual income. I was not surprised though because the tasks I received last October declined to almost nothing. I knew that the money I would be receiving will not be enough to cover our month’s expenses. In times like this, it is easier to worry (especially for a good-worrier like me) than to remember God’s promise that He will supply all our needs according to His riches. It is also easier to complain than to be thankful that God send us our provision.

I am thankful that before I received my salary the Lord has sent in advance His reminders for me not to worry and to be thankful of His daily gifts. God has prepared me to have the right attitude before I received my whole month’s income.

Worry is the fruit of faithlessness. The reason why I worry is because of the things that I see forgetting that I have a God whom I could not see but all-powerful to do great things for me. Besides most of the things I worry about are the things of the morrow; my father’s expense for medicine, my parents’ support, my daughter’s tuition fee, our need for the coming days, etc. These things may no longer be needed because the morrow is uncertain, it might not happen at all.

Worrying is like putting God in a box, limiting His power and ability within the box. But God’s thought and ways are beyond any man’s thought and ways. God’s mind is unreachable. (See Isaiah 55:8-9). This truth gave me so much comfort and encouragement. So instead of worrying, I prayed that God endowed me and my husband the wisdom to properly manage the money He provided us. I thank Him for the provision and I do believe that He will sustain our every need. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

It may be easier to fall into the temptation of worrying just like buying a Rocky Patel Decade but it is wiser to trust God that He is in control of everything and He will never leave us nor forsake us than to be carried away by worrying. So Shooo WORRY!!!

Is there something that worries you? Why not give it to the Lord and let Him handle it for you?

  1. It really helps too that parents are still around to help despite our age. There is nothing to worry if family is intact coz at the end of the day, they’re the ones we come home to.
