Remember that in one of the 30 Things About Me, I mentioned that I was contemplating to transfer my five-year old daughter to homeschooling. Dear Husband and I have been discussing and praying about this matter for months now. Our desire to protect our daughter’s welfare and spirit and the circumstances we faced for the previous months led us to agree that the best option we have is to home school her.
Daughter should have long started her homeschooling if not for the requirement that we need to fly to Manila for the Parent Conference. To save some money on the airfare, Husband and I agree to have the Parent Conference this December during our scheduled visit to Manila. This is also to allow my daughter to finish her PACEs for Level 1. So now that our scheduled flight to Manila is almost here and Daughter has completed her Level 1 PACEs, I have started gathering the requirements for Philippine Christian School of Tomorrow Home Education Program (PCST – HEP) formerly known as Living Heritage Academy.
Here are the requirements I need to secure and submit to PCST – HEP:
Photocopy of Birth Certificate (NSO or Original Copy)- Photocopy of Report Card from the previous school (if from ACE of S.O.T school, certification of last PACE completed) – already filed a request from my daughter school.
- 1×1 ID pictures (3 copies)
For Pastor’s Kids, Copy of Ordination or Certificate As Send out pastor from the sending church.- Accomplished PCST-HEP forms
- Amount needed for the required fees and for the new set of PACEs- this could follow once they received the other documents.
I hope to complete all the required documents by today so that I can send them via courier tomorrow. Unfortunately, the weather is not good to get my daughter’s credentials from her school. I hope tomorrow the weather will be back to normal.
I have a friend here in Dubai who is also doing home school for her children. I have no idea actually what are the benefits or say the biggest advantage of having our children homeschooled than sending them out to public schools if we can’t afford the high tuitions for private schools? I really have no idea honestly, because we might do this to our son as well if the processing and preparation are not that hard. Do you have any idea on how to go about this for OFWs? Thanks. 🙂
As for my daughter, I think the biggest advantage she will be confused of the values and beliefs that I want to teach her to the values and beliefs being taught and practiced in school.
